Our personal project this term is "THE SELFIE" what I know about selfies is that basically anything can be turned into a selfie even a picture in the mirror can be a selfie as it would be a mirror selfie. there are many different definitions of a selfie but this is mine "a selfie is a photo that is taken by you of you and is posted on social media for your friends to see." It is also a type of advert as you are posting things on your profile and advertising yourself to other people . In the olden days you used to have paintings of yourself which is like a selfie but is not as it was painted and not taken technically via a mobile phone or a up to date camera. girls mostly take selfies because the wan to present them self to the people on social media and in public where as boy they don really care about what they look like or what they where i'm not saying the don't fully care i'm saying they don't care as much as they think they do. In fact, the picture considered by many to be the first photographic portrait ever taken was a “selfie”. The image in question was taken in 1839 by an amateur chemist and photography enthusiast from Philadelphia named Robert Cornelius. me personally I don't take any selfies as I think there is no point the only time I take a selfie. i think the reason for taking selfies is so popular is because it was a phase but that phase turned into something more than a phase it turned into a natural thing to do in your everyday life.In my opinion I don't think there are any rules in taking selfies as anything can be a selfie now days. There are many types of selfies such a a mirror selfie, a normal selfie and many more. It's hard to remember a time before the selfie. Thanks to front-facing cameras and the rise of social media, selfies populate our camera rolls, Instagram feeds, dating profiles, and vocabularies. There are phone cases designed to give you photoshoot-worthy lighting, a book of Kim Kardashian's selfies you can pay cash money for, and the word "selfie" is even recognized in the Oxford dictionary (it earned the coveted "word of the year" title in 2013). The selfie "boom" may be behind us (remember when selfie sticks first hit stores?), but it was never destined to be just a passing trend — these quickie self portraits have turned into a permanent fixture of our culture.
This is our presentation of Vivian Maier. We chose the pictures because they all represent a certain part of her and her work. We come to the agreement of the exhibition by grouping the pictures and then spreading them out in the groups and seeing what way look's best. We also looked at the pictures and see what ones were the same sort of photo and what ones were different .If you want to be a curator you have to have an imaginative mind and a creative mind this will help them decide where and how to organise the pictures. What i found most challenging was deciding where to put the photos and the paragraph i had to say. The exhibition was quite successful. Next time i will speak as i didn't speak this time round i will also try and give more ideas. This is a video of some of Vivian Maiers work and her photos over the years. They are the photos from 1926-2009 when she started and when she ended and sadly died. obscured selfies This is a picture made by Akihiko Miyoshi i think that his style is unique and different but is still stylish and it makes you think as you don't see his face so you don't know who is behind the pictures and you don't really know if he took it or if someone else took it as he is behind the camera and not in front of the camera.the type of self portrait he took was an obscured selfie. the way i think he has made them isnby putting different things on a lense or a see through item and put it on the lense and took a picture so you could not see his face. I could be influenced his style of work as some people don't like showing there face and the have to do this for a project so there is a way to cover there face and still take a selfie
Vivian Maier
For this exhibition we had to rearrange many of Vivian Maier's photos.
Las Meninas
Diego Velasquez, Las Meninas, 1656, Oil Painting
What were your first ideas about what it might mean?
At first I thought it was just a normal painting of people in dresses, but then the more I looked at it, the more I noticed things.
What did you notice about the picture?
As I was looking at the painting I began noticing little hidden clues that it is not 'just a painting'. And that there is a lot more to it than just people in dresses.
